The eastern star of Orion’s Belt erupts into color in this Hubble‑palette rendering of Alnitak, the Flame Nebula, and the Horsehead Nebula. Using narrowband data mapped to the classic SHO palette, this artwork reveals the hidden architecture of the region: sulfur glowing in gold, hydrogen in teal, oxygen in deep blue. The result is a luminous, sculpted landscape of gas and dust—familiar in form yet transformed through the language of scientific color. Alnitak burns at the frame’s edge, its radiation carving the Flame Nebula into curling sheets of fire. Nearby, the Horsehead rises in silhouette, a dark tower of dust standing defiantly against the glowing backdrop. Every filament, shock front, and glowing ridge is rendered with crisp detail and dramatic contrast, showcasing the dynamic forces shaping one of the sky’s most celebrated regions.
